3 Avondale restaurants busted for serving beer to minors

Posted: Updated:

WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police charged three bartenders from three different Avondale restaurants for serving alcohol to a person under the age of 21.

According to the police reports, the first sting operation went down at the Mellow Mushroom on Magnolia Road. Officers sent an 18-year-old into the business who they say successfully purchased a Bud Light. Since the server didn't ask to see I.D., she was given a citation.

The same happened later that same day at Pearlz on Magnolia Road and again the next day at Oak Barrel on Savannah Highway. Both servers were issued citations for serving an under aged person alcohol.

The CPD Special Investigation Unit conducted the operations as part of an alcohol compliance check, using money from the CPD Vice account.
