Man charged with breaking into cars in West Ashley

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man was charged with six counts of breaking into a motor vehicle for a June incident that happened at a West Ashley apartment complex.

Officials with the Charleston County Police Department said Jerry Gardner Jr., 27, was served warrants at the Al Cannon Detention Center on Thursday, where he was being held on a charge of receiving stolen goods.

The car break-ins happened on June 11 on Eagles View Drive in Heron Reserve.

Among the items stolen from the six vehicles were DJ lights, a taser, sunglasses, and a silver and gold sword.

Gardner is also being charged with one count of property crime enhancement.

The Charleston County Police Department is still investigating.
