ROUND O, S.C. (WCIV) -- A teen mother has been arrested a second time by the Colleton County Sheriff's Office following the death of her 9-month-old child.

According to Colleton County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Ted Stanfield,  Takevia Shanell Wilson was arrested Thursday night and charged with homicide by child abuse.

"It's real hard.  I can't even hardly rest.  I can't even hardly breathe," said Sharee Wilson, who says the accusations against her daughter have been hard on the entire family.

She says, however, her daughter is no killer.  Her daughter was originally charged with unlawful conduct towards a child and had been released on bail.

"She's a good mother.  She's a protective mother," said Wilson.

Stanfield says the autopsy report showed the infant died as a result of "blunt force trauma to the abdomen with signs of asphyxiation." The baby boy died on June 4 in his home on Coolers Dairy Road near the Round O community in Colleton County.

In court on Friday, Wilson said very little as the judge explained to her that she faces 20 years to life in prison if she is convicted.

Wilson's boyfriend, John Benton, says he was with Wilson when the baby died, saying the two of them were not in the room with the baby when the child began to act strangely. He said his girlfriend is not a killer.

"That baby that was her pride, and joy, her everything. She loved him with all her heart," he said.

The teen mom's mother says deputies should look more carefully into charging someone else with the crime.

"That's what I'm thinking.  I'm thinking somebody in the house, something else happened in that house because that was a healthy baby," said Wilson.  "I just asked her, asked her over and over and she says 'she don't know (what happened.)'

Because of the nature of the crime, the magistrate judge denied bond. Wilson is expected to face a circuit court judge on July 22.
