24 charged in bust of Upstate meth ring

Posted: Updated:

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say they have charged 24 people as they broke up an Upstate ring that made and sold methamphetamine.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the indictments Friday. All 24 people have been charged with conspiracy to traffic more than 400 grams of methamphetamine.

If convicted, each defendant faces between 25 to 30 years in prison.

Authorities say 19 of the people indicted have been arrested.

Several defendants face additional charges. Prosecutors say some of them had guns, and some of them exposed children to the drugs.

Wilson says sheriff's deputies in Anderson, Pickens and Greenville counties and police in Easley helped with the investigation.
