SC gas prices dip 6 cents over last week

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCIV) -- Gas prices across South Carolina dropped by 6 cents per gallon in the last week, according to gas price tracking website GasBuddy.com.

The average price across the state is at $3.15 per gallon, the website reports. Prices across the state are 2.8 cents below this time last month and 26 cents above this same time last year, GasBuddy reports.

"After an impressive surge abated several weeks ago, we're seeing gasoline prices decline nicely," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.

Nationally, prices fell 5.7 cents per gallon to $3.50. That's 13.6 cents cheaper than this time a month ago and 12.9 cents above this time one year ago.

"One in five states currently has at least one gas station with gasoline under $3 per gallon: South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Ohio, Texas, New Mexico, Virginia, Indiana, and Michigan all have at least one station statewide under $3. The national average is likely to continue its decline this week as retail prices catch up to the decrease in wholesale gasoline prices," DeHaan said.
