CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Charleston Riverdogs have announced a special addition to their lineup for Tuesday's game. The Yankees' Alex Rodriguez will be rehabbing with the Charleston affiliate.

Rodriguez, who has been sidelined with injuries this season, will step onto the diamond at third base for at least a few innings Tuesday night.

Rodriguez told the Associated Press he felt great and was ready to return to the game.

"So far, no issues," Rodriguez said. "I'm just working really hard. I'm having fun. It's exciting to be back on the field."

Rodriguez underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum and bone impingement in his left hip. The Yankees said the expected recovery time was four to six months and signed Kevin Youkilis to play third base in A-Rod's extended absence.

Major Leaguers that have had recent rehab assignments in Charleston include Brett Gardner (Yankees), Tim Hudson (Braves), Phil Hughes (Yankees), Carl Pavano (former Yankee; current Twin) and Jon Lester (Red Sox).

A three-time American League MVP, Rodriguez was the first overall pick by the Seattle Mariners in the 1993 MLB Amateur Draft. In 19 seasons in the Majors, the right-handed hitter has amassed 647 homers, 1,950 RBI, 512 doubles, and scored 1,898 runs.
