KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. — South Carolina women's golf signee Katelyn Dambaugh qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship on Monday with a tie for third finish in a sectional qualifier at Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Cougar Point.

Dambaugh posted a 1-under 71 to finish three strokes out of first place. She was one of 10 golfers at the sectional to qualify for the U.S. Amateur, which will be held Aug. 5-11 at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.

A total of 156 golfers will play two rounds of stroke play, with the low 64 scorers advancing to match play.

A native of Goose Creek, S.C., Dambaugh was a standout at Pinewood Prep in Summerville, S.C., earning All-State honors for the girls' and boys' golf teams and accumulating nine individual and team state titles during her career for the Panthers while playing on both teams.

She was also a standout basketball player for Pinewood and helped lead the Panthers to three-straight state titles on her way to earning All-State honors on the hardwood.
