RIDGEVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — A husband and wife from Ridgeville are fighting for their lives after police say two bank robbers crashed into them Monday while trying to elude police.

The suspects are now in custody and awaiting a bond hearing in Charleston County. Sam Richardson with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says they are likely to face charges in his jurisdiction as well.

A hospital spokesperson says the couple, Julius and Lois Campbell, remains in critical condition at Medical University Hospital. Family members say they were only about five minutes from their home when the two suspects changed the lives of the couple and their families forever.

"They need to get what's coming to them, and I'm glad they got caught," said Lee Paul, the younger brother of Lois Campbell.

Police say Tyrone Ellison and Ronald Lance were arrested Tuesday after multiple agencies searched hours for them in rural Dorchester County. Investigators say a third suspect in the Sun Trust bank robbery on Dorchester Road, identified as Christopher Coburn, was arrested shortly after the crime was committed.

One day after police say Ellison and Lance caused the crash, Paul says he and his family continue to remain hopeful that their loved ones will survive their life-threatening injuries.

"Julius' head is swollen up, got his ribs broke and had to fly him by helicopter and Lois, they had to find Lois, yesterday," said Paul. "She got thrown through the windshield."

Evelyn King, a family friend, says she and Lois Campbell grew up together and both attend Liberty Hill Christian Church in Ridgeville.

"Everybody is so sad. They're just praying," said King. "She sings on the choir. She is also an usher."

When she's not in church, King says Lois works in maintenance at Beech Hill Elementary.

"All the kids love her. Everybody just loves her there. She's just a sweet, sweet lady," said King.

For the last 22 years, Julius Campbell has worked as a cook for Oscar's Restaurant in Summerville.

"Even if you worked here for one day, you come to love Julius. He's the first person to smile at you when you walk in the morning," said his manager, Dustin Baker.

Reverend Gralin Hampton presided over the couple's wedding more than 20 years ago.

"You would be hard pressed to find a better core person inside and out than Lois," said Hampton. "Julius is quiet. Those two were very close."

Family members say the couple has four children and several grandchildren.
