41 groups participating in Lowcountry History Fair

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Magnolia Plantations and Gardens outside of Charleston is bringing together 41 organizations and businesses with ties to Lowcountry history.

The History Fair at the gardens this weekend includes groups that study everything from black genealogy to rice cultivation and Southern history. The Gullah Geechee National Heritage Corridor that includes parts of 4 states will also be represented.

Representatives of the groups will have information and make presentations about their work and businesses during Saturday's event.

Those who serve the nation and community are also being honored. Firefighters, law enforcement and emergency medical technicians will all receive free admission, as will doctors, nurses and active duty military.
