SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- Undercover officers and investigators in HazMat suits were called to the Economy Inn in Summerville late Thursday night to handle cleanup of a meth lab in one of the rooms.

Investigators laid out what appeared to be meth-making materials in the parking lot of the motel. Officials on scene arrived sometime before 11 p.m. and didn't clear the area until around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

According to a police report, officers responded to the motel late Thursday night after receiving complaints of prostitution. Officers knocked on the door to one of the rooms, where they found 39-year-old Holly Earlene Mahon, a 25-year-old man and another woman inside.

The report states officers could smell marijuana, but Mahon said someone had it in her room earlier and she told them to leave.

There was a man, identified as 25-year-old Zachary Allen Kerr, in the bathroom, police said. Officers found a small plastic bag of marijuana on the bed and arrested Kerr. During a search, officers found 20 pills in a blister pack, the report states.

Officers identified the pills as pseudoephredine, a common drug used in making meth.

During a search of the room, officers found a casserole dish in the bathroom that police believe was being used to make meth. Waite, Davies and Mahon all told officers they did not know anything about the meth-making tools in the bathroom, the report states.

Mahon and Kerr were charged with manufacturing meth and taken to Summerville Police Department for booking. Kerr was also cited for possession of marijuana, the report states.

Both were taken to the Berkeley County Detention Center until their bond hearing at 7 p.m. Friday.

The motel was not evacuated.
