Authorities Capture Missing Le Flore County Inmate

Le Flore County deputies captured an inmate over the weekend who escaped from a minimum security prison in eastern Oklahoma.

Authorities captured Curtis Edward Gibson on Sunday in the unincorporated Summerfield area. Fort Smith, Ark., television station KHBS (http://bit.ly/11tdEiV ) reports that authorities found Gibson looking for food in a trash bin.

Deputies announced last week that Gibson was discovered missing during a headcount July 1 at the Jim Hamilton Correctional Center.

Officials say Gibson was serving time out of Oklahoma County on a conviction of failure to comply with sex offender registration. Oklahoma Department of Corrections records state that he was incarcerated for the following charges:

   - Rape in the first degree

   - Domestic abuse

   - Assault and battery on a police officer

   - Bail jumping

Gibson is now waiting to be transferred back to Oklahoma.
