OKDHS Offering Summer Cooling Assistance; Applications Begin Tuesday

With rising temperatures come rising electricity costs and soon, Oklahomans can get help beating the heat.

The Department of Human Services will begin taking applications Tuesday to help low-income households pay their cooling bills this summer, thanks to $16 million in aid from the federal


Eligibility is based on household income, with a maximum of $1,024 in net monthly income for a one-person household and up to $3,565 in net monthly income for an eight-person household.

The anticipated benefit amounts are $120 for a one-person household, while a household of two or more may receive $180.  

To apply for Summer Cooling Assistance, contact your local OKDHS Human Services Center.
