Federal Funds Aid Tulsa with Disaster Prep

Posted: Updated:

The Department of Homeland Security is helping Tulsa prepare for disasters through grant money.

Sheriff Stanley Glanz is heading up the Tulsa Urban Area Security Initiative.

He organized a display at the Tulsa fairgrounds on Wednesday to show off some of the tools and supplies purchased with that grant money.

For example, fire tanker trucks used during major spills and a tent for decontamination.

The money was also used for training among multiple agencies.

Sheriff Glanz said that even though all of the grant money has been spent, training with all the new equipment will continue.
