Suspect in Muskogee Shooting of 5-Year-Old Turns Himself In

The suspect wanted for questioning in 5-year-old boy shooting turned himself in, Monday, July 15.

According to Muskogee Police, a boy had been transported to the emergency room after being shot while waiting in a car, Saturday, July 13.

Officers were responding to a shots fired call around at Whispering Pines apartments around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, when around the same time they received a call from the ER stating they had a gunshot victim there.

A warrant was issued for 20-year-old Kenneth Jones for one count of assault with a deadly weapon. According to police, around 8:15 p.m., Jones turned himself into police.

Police stated Sunday that Jones was outside the vehicle and for an unknown reason shot into the car. Jones then got back into the car and left with the injured boy and the boy's mother. It was then that they realized the boy had been shot and drove him to the emergency room.

The boy was taken by ambulance to a Tulsa area hospital. Muskogee police stated that the boy was in stable condition and was coherent.
