Oologah Gas Meters Struck By Lightning, Residents Evacuated

Posted: Updated:

Dozens of Oologah residents were evacuated after a lightning strike severed a power line that then ignited three gas meters, Tuesday evening.

Residents within a four-block radius of the gas meters were evacuated by emergency crews.

Areas affected were near Highway 88 and the 200 block of South Boundary.

Emergency crews are going door-to-door to make sure there are no gas leaks.

Thee were no injuries. Officials allowed the gas to burn as they worked on shutting down the lines in order to keep fumes from escaping.
