CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Got big feet? How about tootsies big enough to fill some big, red shoes. Then Ronald McDonald House of Charleston wants you.

The charity is celebrating 30 years with its "Wear Red Shoes" campaign. Perhaps you've seen the billboards featuring local celebrities like Darius Rucker, Mayor Joe Riley, Tony the Peanut Man and now yours truly, sporting the big -- make that giant -- red shoes.

"Wearing red shoes has become the symbol for joining others to make a difference to families of seriously ill children," said Marketing and Special Events Coordinator Rachel Hubbard.

The Ronald McDonald House of Charleston is a home away from home for the families of children being treated at local hospitals. It started with 12 bedrooms and now has 27. Seven of those rooms are for children who have received transplants.

"The families are going through their darkest time and the RMHCC task is to join them in their journey as they help their child fight for their lives," said Hubbard. "To wear the red shoes, all you have to be is someone who is ready to help. Red Shoes are one size fits all, and there are many ways to help."

The house is always in need of donations, volunteers and supplies. The charity is even selling 30th anniversary T-shirts for the cause. To learn more, go to www.rmhcharleston.org.

Don't forget the photo contest to sport your own big red shoes on a billboard for a month. Just submit a picture of yourself, your family, friends or co-workers by Sept. 1. Send them to contest@wearredshoes.com or mail to 81 Gadsen Street, Charleston, SC, 29401.

Finally, if a shirt and shoes aren't enough, how about supper? The Bonefish Grill of North Charleston on International Boulevard is holding a grand opening this Saturday, Aug. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The cost is $35 per person with the proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Charleston.
