Goose Creek residents warned of sewer overflow

Posted: Updated:

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- Berkeley County Water & Sanitation officials said recent heavy rainfall has caused a "minor sanitary sewer overflow."

They warn to avoid standing water in certain areas where two pump stations overflowed.

Those stations are located at 441 Liberty Hall Road and 731 St. James Ave.

BCWS crews are working to fix the system and signs are being posted to warn residents.

Department of Health and Environmental Control crews will disinfect and deodorize the area once the problem is corrected.

Residents are asked to avoid any standing water in these areas as a safety precaution.
