Mount Pleasant man killed after car catches on fire

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Mount Pleasant man is dead after a vehicle hit a transformer box and caught on fire on Saturday, officials said.

Officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the vehicle was traveling on Fen Place in the Prince George community at about 7:24 p.m. and ran off the side of the road.

Kevin Thedford Henderson, 20, was killed in the accident, officials said.

A 20-year-old passenger from Columbia was transferred to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials did not know if the two were wearing seatbelts.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
