Man charged with fraud in car title case

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Charleston man wanted on 17 warrants for fraud charges was arrested  Tuesday.

According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, Quinton Wright was wanted on charged of obtaining goods by false pretenses, breach of trust and altering vehicle titles.

Deputies say most of the charges stemmed from Wright's use of false information to secure car loans from dealerships and not making the payments.

According to the incident reports, Wright used the name Dewayne Williams to have work done on an assortment of vehicles at Baker Motors, including nearly $900 on a Land Rover and almost $1,500 of work on a Mercedes.

He was also accused of passing a bad check to get more than $1,000 in diesel fuel from a Mount Pleasant store

His bond was set at $80,000.

Wright is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
