A 25-year-old woman was taken into custody in south Tulsa for reported public intoxication while having two children in her possession.

Tulsa Police arrested Elizabeth Cox and booked her for assault and battery on a police officer and obstruction. She was placed under arrest outside her apartment complex in south Tulsa.

According to her booking report, officers were assigned to Cox's apartment complex after calls were made stating an "intoxicated female...was driving through the complex with two young children."

Upon their arrival, officers made contact with Cox who had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and person. She also had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on her feet.

Cox was uncooperative with officers when they attempted to place her into custody. At that time "she grabbed her 8-year-old daughter and attempted to use her as a shield in order [to] prevent officers from placing her into custody."

According to the arrest report, she continued to remain uncooperative when she was in the police vehicle. In the process of transport to booking, Cox unbuckled her seat belt and attempted to exit the car.

"I prevented her escape and she intentionally kicked me in the leg," the officer wrote in his report.

Cox was transported to the Tulsa County Jail. Her bond for the assault and battery on a police officer complaint was $5,000.
