Tipster leads to burglary arrest on James Island

Posted: Updated:

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- A tipster led police Friday night to a James Island burglary suspect wanted in a car break-in from earlier in the month.

According to Charleston police, 25-year-old Brandon Tyrene Johnson was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary of a car outside a Sage Bird View home.

The arrest comes after Charleston Police, Charleston County deputies, the State Law Enforcement Division and the U.S. Marshals teamed up to crack down on a string of recent burglaries and car break-ins.

Police said the break-ins have been happening all over the West Ashley and James Island areas of Charleston.

Police are still investigating the crimes.
