Tulsa Mother Pleads Guilty After Officers Find Kids in Hot Apartment

Posted: Updated:

A Tulsa woman pleaded guilty during a court appearance Friday after she was accused of leaving her children alone in a south Tulsa apartment complex without air conditioning.

Court records stated Yomara Alvarez was due before a Tulsa judge Friday morning for her preliminary hearing. At her appearance she pleaded guilty to one count of child neglect.

Alvarez was given a deferred sentence and will not be taken to the Tulsa County Jail.

Police records indicated that back in July her three young children were found alone in an apartment with no air conditioning. Officers stated the temperatures inside were at least 90 degrees.

In a previous report on KTUL, TPD stated the kids were pouring bottles of water onto themselves to cool off

Alvarado was taken into custody hours later after police discovered the children. She was held on $75,000 bond.
