Swinney will treat Saturday like any other opener

Posted: Updated:

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has played and coached in numerous openers and says he'll treat Saturday night's game with No. 5 Georgia as just the latest one, nothing more and nothing less.

But that's difficult when top-10 teams meet to kick off the season.

Still, Swinney says his eighth-ranked Tigers can't get too caught up in what happens against the Bulldogs at Death Valley. It's a long season and even a defeat won't derail Clemson from its championship goals.

Swinney's not completely dumbing down one of the biggest opening games in school history.

ESPN's "College GameDay" will be on campus for the first time in seven years and Swinney understands a win would set Clemson up well for a title run in the Atlantic Coast Conference panda national championship.
