Smoke, Flames Destroy Tulsa Business Overnight

A business in a Tulsa strip mall went up in flames early Thursday morning.

Crews were called to heavy smoke billowing from a building around 12:45 a.m. Thursday near Lewis and Admiral.

Firefighters tried to attack the blaze from the front, but officials said it was too hot and smoky, so they went to the back and forced entry.

They found the fire and were able to put it out, but the building was badly damaged.

According to Capt. Jerry Benefield, it was not immediately clear what the business was, but it appeared to store a lot of material that was destroyed in the flames.

Five crews, which includes anywhere from 19 to 25 firefighters, responded to the fire.

There is no word on what may have caused the fire yet. There were no injuries reported.
