At Least One Injured in Natural Gas Line Fire at S. Tulsa Apartment

Posted: Updated:
At least one person has been injured after a natural gas line erupted at a South Tulsa apartment complex Thursday afternoon.

The fire erupted around noon at the River Chase apartment complex on 7700 S. Wheeling, between Riverside and Lewis.

Crews were able to douse the flames just before 1 p.m.

Oklahoma Natural Gas was called to the scene to turn off the line, but it is unclear how long it will take to remove all of the gas from the line.

According to Tulsa Fire Capt. Stan May, one city worker was injured and taken to a local hospital.

Maintenance workers were apparently trying to move a water line and accidentally hit the gas line.

Tulsa's Channel 8 has a crew on scene and will update this developing story.
