SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- Newk's Eatery opened a new franchise in Summerville.
The restaurant at 210 D Azalea Square Boulevard started serving customers on Monday.
The menu includes items such as fresh-tossed salads, oven-baked sandwiches, California-style pizzas, soups and homemade cakes.
"Newk's Eatery is one of the fastest growing restaurant concepts in the country because our loyal customers value the fresh, flavorful food and the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere," said Brack Rowe, one of the store's operators. "We are excited to offer this unique restaurant concept in Summerville and look forward to bringing even more Newk's restaurants to the region."
The three men running the Summerville store have signed on to open four more Newk's locations in the next five years cities including Charleston, Columbia and Savannah.
Before the store's official ribbon-cutting in Summerville, Newk's hosted a private VIP event, with proceeds benefitting Children in Crisis in Dorchester County. The nonprofit is dedicated to creating a community in which children and families live safe from abuse and are free to reach their full potential.
