CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- City of Charleston firefighters Jeb Geesey and Justin Kroboth both risk their lives for others on a daily basis. But the firefighting friends wanted to do even more for others and came up with an idea to help save lives through a simple product -- sunglasses.

The shades are called SOLVE, and the goal of the new local business is to do just that -- help solve the global water crisis.

"For every pair we sell, we help give someone clean water for life through Water Missions International," said Geesey.

According to the nonprofit Water Missions International, 1.8 billion people worldwide don't have access to clean water. SOLVE sunglasses is one of the first local businesses to partner with Water Missions to help with the cause.

"The reason they are doing what they are doing is they are trying to impact people's lives who are suffering from this global water crisis," said George Greene, Executive Vice President of Water Missions International.

SOLVE is donating $10 dollars of every sunglass purchase to Water Missions International.

"Ten dollars is the cost of access to bring safe water to one person for life," Greene said. "One pair of sunglasses changing one person's life is really a personal thing as opposed to some vague contribution that goes to a water project or helping with water."

"One pair, one life" is the motto of the company with two firefighting founders focused on making a difference and seeing change.

"I don't care where you're from or who you are when you can give someone something and you know they are happy about it or affects their life, it's a good feeling," said Geesey.
