Clemson coordinator: QB Boyd slowed Clemson down

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Offensive coordinator Chad Morris didn't like No. 8 Clemson's tempo in their season-opening win against No. 5 Georgia. And 1 of the biggest culprits slowing the Tigers down in Morris' view was quarterback Tajh Boyd.

Morris said Monday Boyd didn't get his eyes to the sidelines quickly enough after plays in Clemson's 38-35 win over the Bulldogs on Saturday night. Morris thought his high-speed attack should've squeezed off another 10 to 12 plays instead of the 76 snaps they managed.

Boyd passed for three touchdowns and rushed for two others in the victory.

Morris was slightly surprised at Boyd's inattention at times. Morris brushed it off as Boyd getting caught up in the moment of a highly anticipated game.

The Tigers (1-0) face South Carolina State (0-1) of the FCS on Saturday.
