MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - In a moment of need, panic or crisis they are there for you. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week the 2-1-1 Hotline is just a phone call away. Their volunteers know how to handle just about any situation and can offer advice, and point folks in the right direction no-matter how big the problem is.

In 2012, the 2-1-1 Hotline handled 50,000 phone calls from people across the Lowcountry, but as those call increase, so does the demand for more volunteers.

On Wednesday the hotline will be featured on the ABC News 4 Phonebank to recruit new help.

They are looking for volunteers who are respectful, empathic and dependable.  Anyone interested must go through a training program before starting.  The program covers general counseling skills, crisis intervention and strategies on how to handle calls.

If you are interested call 881-5837 between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to talk to the organization.  If you can't call during the phonebank you can call two other numbers anytime.

Those number are: (843) 744-HELP or 1-800-922-2283.
