MOUNT PLEASANT – A week after being held to 14 points in a narrow loss at Beaufort, Wando rebounded with a powerful offensive performance and success in the red zone to defeat Ashley Ridge, 45-26, Friday night at Wando Stadium.
Kenny Waring served as the offensive catalyst for the Warriors, rushing for 236 yards and three touchdowns. The junior running back now has six on the young season after also recording a trio of scores in the season opener against James Island.
The West Ashley Wildcats rolled up 460 yards of offense and held off James Island for a 23-17 victory Friday night at Wildcat Stadium. The win put the Wildcats at 2-0, doubling their win total from a year ago.
The night started ominously for West Ashley as the Wildcats drove 65 yards on their first series only to see quarterback Pedro Manigault fumble into the end zone to thwart the drive.
