Coroner: Body identified as missing Summerville man

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Dorchester County Coroner's Office identified a body found by hunters in August as a Summerville man who had missing since April.

The coroner said Larry Jackson of Summerville was 23 years old when he was reported missing on April 29, 2013 by his girlfriend and sister.

On August 17, Jackson's body was found by hunters in a wooded area of Utsey Hill Road in Grover.

The coroner said he was able to identify the body using dental records and an anthropology examination.

The cause of death is listed as a single gunshot wound to the head with the manner being homicide, the coroner said.

Officials said Jackson was last seen on Boone Street in Brownsville Community in April. He never contacted family or friends.
