Deputies say man's remains open murder investigation

Posted: Updated:

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- The remains of a man found in St. George last month have led to a murder investigation for the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.

According to the sheriff's office, officials identified the remains as those of Larry Lee Jackson.

Jackson was reportedly last seen in late April and a missing persons report was filed with the Summerville Police Department, officials said.

Deputies said information gathered from the remains led to a murder investigation, saying Jackson had been shot one time in the head. Officials said Jackson was last seen on Boone Street in Brownsville Community in April. He never contacted family or friends.

Jackson's remains were found off of Utsey Hill Road.

Details about a suspect were not released.
