WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man was shot in the back of the head Tuesday evening in Walterboro, rescue officials said.

Officials said the man was alert and talking to emergency personnel after the shooting. The man was taken to Colleton Medical Center for treatment.

The incident happened at the Lincoln Apartments, officials said.

According to the police report, the victim told officers he was talking to a woman in front of the 300 building when a man walked up and began to argue with him.

The victim said the suspect, known as "Supa," pulled out a black pistol and shot him in the back of the head as he was trying to walk away.

This marks the third shooting in Walterboro in about a week.

Over the weekend, a 16-year-old was shot in the leg, according to police reports. Before that, an 18-year-old woman was shot during a drive-by last Tuesday night.

Officials identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jamal Quadry Ferguson who was arrested for the incident.
