ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCIV) -- Deputies in Orangeburg say they are looking for a man who took money for a roofing job he never finished.

According to a release from the OCSD, several victims have contacted officials saying  John William Smith III promised to do home repairs but never came back to complete the work after he was paid.

The report says one victim gave Smith $1,385 to buy materials needed to fix a roof but could not get in touch with him because "Smith is avoiding the victim's phone calls and is never home."

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Smith may have scammed people all across the Midlands.

Smith is charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent.

Anyone with information concerning Smith's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
