School of the Arts bus driver accused of touching student

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A School of the Arts bus driver is under North Charleston police scrutiny after a student and her parents said the driver made inappropriate gestures and comments toward the student.

According to an incident report, an officer met with the student and her mother on Monday at the school after the child told her mother about the bus driver touching her and making inappropriate comments.

The girl said the comments and touches have been happening since she was in sixth grade. The girl is now in the eighth grade, the report states.

The report states that the bus driver told the girl about his personal sexual experiences, told her he was a pimp and to "come give pimp daddy some sugar." He also allegedly called the girl several names.

According to the report, several witnesses saw the driver make comments and touch the girl.

Police reportedly contacted Charleston County School District officials to make sure that the driver is removed from his route until the investigation is completed.

The school district responded on Wednesday afternoon.

"The Charleston County School District takes any allegation of misconduct very seriously. The safety of our students is our single most important priority. As soon as we received these reports Durham was directed by the District to place the driver on administrative leave, pending investigation," a district statement read.

The man has not yet been arrested, the report states.
