CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man was charged with driving under the influence after a car accident on Thursday, said officials with the Charleston Police Department.

Officials said the collision happened at the intersection of Bees Ferry Road and Grand Oaks Boulevard at a bout 6:15 p.m.

Officials said one of the drivers involved, William Larry Watford, 65, of Sylva, smelled of alcohol.

Watford told officers he did have one mixed drink and several beers before he started driving, according to a police report.

The officer gave Watford several field sobriety tests including asking him to recite the alphabet from the letter 'G' to the letter 'T,' according to the report. Officials said Watford skipped several letters.

Officials said he was not able to stand on one leg or walk and turn as the officer advised.

Watford was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and taken to the Al Canon Detention Center.

Watford's blood-alcohol level was .27%, according to the report.

His bond was set at $2,267.
