Teenager collects donations to send overseas

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- A 14-year-old girl from the Lowcountry is working to make a difference overseas.

Through a Charleston Changes 4-H Club, Skyla works to gather donations to send to underprivileged people in countries such as Rwanda, China, Ghana and Honduras.

Campbell said she collections shirts, art supplies and sporting equipment.

By the end of October, she will have helped send donations to 6,000 people in eight different countries.

She said her favorite part of the process is getting pictures from the people she has helped showing off their new shirts or soccer balls.

"We live in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and you know we complain because my iPad is dead or my isn't phone's not working or so-and-so didn't text me," she said. "And then you see these pictures and I've never seen someone so happy over just getting a shirt. It's amazing. It's amazing. I mean, it's the best thing in the world."

"It's just so simple to give," she added. "You don't have to be an adult. You don't have to have a job.You don't have to have all the money in the world just to just to really do something good that's helping a lot of people. "

If you would like to know how you can help, send an email to www.charlestonchange@cc4h.net.

You can also donate art supplies at Kids Teeth in Park West or sporting equipment at East Cooper Sporting Goods.
