NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The North Charleston S.P.E.E.D. Team conducted an undercover drug buy and arrested six men in the Forest Hills community over the weekend.
According to a police report, an undercover officer went up to six men in front of a Quest Drive home and asked if he could buy some marijuana. The officer said the men said no, but he could smell pot on them.
Other officers arrived on scene and found two grams of marijuana in a nearby Chevy Tahoe. One of the men, who police identify as Terrence Richardson, said it was his.
Officers said they then saw Teddy Gadsden in a Dodge Avenger that had a book bag containing 123.7 grams of marijuana packed into four bags, a .38 caliber handgun and a scale. Another one of the suspects, Thomas Bonneau, said the backpack was his but he didn't know what was inside of it.
Police say they also found a joint on the ground next to Shakare Kershaw and found out that another suspect, CLarence Cohen had an outstanding warrant from Mount Pleasant police.
Gadsden, Townsend and Bonneau were charged with possession with intent to distribute and unlawful carrying of a handgun. Each were given a $10,000 bond.
Cohen was charged with forgery and given a $5,000 bond.
Richardson and Kershaw were charged with simple possession.
