WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- Walterboro police responded to South Carolina Electric and Gas on Jefferies Highway Monday for reports of a theft.

Officers report 39 mechanical jumpers were taken off a Sumter Utilities truck that was parked inside the fenced-in area of the SCE&G property.

Investigators found that bolt cutters had been used to cut the chain link fence around the lot, and then left on the ground outside the fence.

The mechanical jumpers, of various lengths, are valued at $20,000.

If you have information on this or any other crime you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
