Hundreds expected at SC anti-bullying summit

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Hundreds of students, educators and officers from across South Carolina are scheduled to discuss the importance of fighting bullying.

The Youth Against Bullying Summit is scheduled for Tuesday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

It's a collaborative effort from the Columbia Police Department, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers' Association and the state Department of Education Student Intervention Services.

Chief Ruben Santiago and Superintendent of Education Mick Zais are scheduled to address the meeting.

U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles is also planning to talk about bullying from both personal and policy perspectives.
