NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston police have released photos from a recent jewelry store burglary and they say the suspect has been tied to two other thefts, one store was hit twice.

According to police reports, the first theft happened at the Zales at Tanger Outlet on the morning of August 11.

Management told police they had been having problems with their alarm system so an armed guard was on duty.

The security guard told police he found broken glass in a corridor and when he went to investigate, the suspect jumped out of the broken window holding a small black plastic trash can full of stolen jewelry.

The reporting officer said the security guard managed to chase the suspect towards International Blvd. but the thief got away. The guard said some of the item fell out of the trash can when the suspect tripped and fell and some of the merchandise was recovered.

The second incident happened in the early morning hours of Aug. 30 at Polly's Jewelry on Rivers Avenue.

Officers were called in around 3:45 a.m. after the alarm went off and found a broken window. They said they found jewelry displays and envelopes littered around the scene and a Plexiglas case ripped open.

K-9 officers tracked the suspect and found fresh vehicle marks but the suspect was gone.

The most recent burglary was at the same Polly's location around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 23. Officers found another broken window. Surveillance video showed the suspect coming in and grabbing a black box and immediately leaving.

The suspect is described as a white male between 20 and 35 years of age ranging between 5'5" and 5'8" weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing a brown hat with white lettering and a camouflage shirt. In the first robbery at Zales, he was wearing a light gray hoodie with "USC" across the chest and dark jeans.

Investigators believe the same suspect is responsible for these three incidents and possibly other similar incidents in other jurisdictions.  Anyone with information should contact NCPD at 554-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
