The Huddle's picks of the week

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – This week the Post and Courier's Phil Bowman and Dean Stephens make their picks for the fifth week of high school football.

This week the action starts with Bishop England and North Charleston in a Thursday night game that features this week's High School Hero, Nick Shiver.

Here's this week's picks:

Goose Creek and Dutch Fork: Both Bowman and Stephens see a lot of firepower in this week's ABC News 4 Game of the Week, but most of it is loaded up on the side of the Gators. Stephens and Bowman are leaning toward Goose Creek for the win.

Colleton County at Stratford: Again, the experts are on the same page and pick Stratford to run away with this one as long as Jacob Park is taking snaps for Stratford.

Wando at Fort Dorchester: Bowman sees a Fort Dorchester team looking to do some damage and takes the home team to pull this one out. Stephens says Jimmy Noonan's motivation will be the overpowering force in this matchup and takes Wando for the win.

Summerville and West Ashley: Riding on coach John McKissick's birthday celebration, Stephens sees Summerville rolling over West Ashley. However, Bowman says West Ashley is a team of destiny and will ride the Green Wave to victory.

Berkeley and Timberland: Bowman and Stephens see one thing in this matchup – athleticism for Timberland. As a result, both experts are taking Timberland in the win.
