Bishops capture 3rd win, beat North Charleston 38-0

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. -- Bishop England senior Nick Shiver may not get to touch the football as often as he would like, but one thing is certain: Shiver makes the most of every touch.

The 5-11, 195-pound running back came into Thursday's game with North Charleston averaging nearly 13 yards per rushing attempt. He did nothing to hurt that average, rushing for 71 yards on two carries and a touchdown, catching a 37-yard touchdown pass, and returning an interception 96 yards for a score — all in the first half.

Bishop England led 35-0 at the break en route to a 38-0 victory, its third in a row after an 0-2 start.

"It doesn't really matter to me how many times I get the ball as long we win the game," said Shiver. "Like any running back, I want as many carries as I can get. I want to do whatever I can to help us win. Some games I might get the ball more than others. My job is to make something good happen when I get my opportunity."

Shiver topped the 500-yard rushing total in the victory and has only 41 carries this season. Bishop England head coach John Cantey says those numbers will increase as the season moves on.

"He's going to get the ball plenty more," said Cantey. "He's a heckuva athlete and a great young man. He's a big part of our offense for sure."
