Georgetown community signs wooden boat

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCIV) -- Messages of hope are being written on a wooden boat on Georgetown's Harbor Walk.

A manager at Wild Fish said he found the boat at a warehouse when he was looking for restaurant equipment.

Trevor Day, a managing partner at Wild Fish, said he was going to use the boat as the restaurant's sign but decided to get community members to sign it instead.

"There's a lot of history down here," he said. "The boat show has been a huge part of Georgetown, You know having everyone sign something like that is real cool."

Day said he eventually plans to donate the boat to the Maritime Museum.
