SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that resulted in felony DUI charges at a construction zone Thursday morning.

According to SCHP Trooper Bridget Wyant, the accident happened around 3:15 a.m. on Highway 78 at Orangeburg Road.

The coroner's office identified the victim as 56-year-old Vickie Turner Bryant, of St. George. Her death was ruled accidental.

Wyant said two vehicles, a 2002 Buick driven by Bryant and a dump truck were stopped on Highway 78 in a construction zone when Bryant was struck from behind by a drunk driver causing Bryant to hit the dump truck in front of her.

The driver, 29-year-old Andrea Miller, was driving a 2010 Hyundai. She was taken to Trident for her injuries.

Bryant was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the dump truck was unharmed.

SCHP officials have charged Miller with felony DUI.
