Police called after baby's face burned

WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- Walterboro police were called to investigate a case of possible child abuse Friday afternoon.

According to the police report, officers responded to the Augusta Burn Center after getting a call from Child Services.

The social worker said an infant was treated for second degree burns to the face. Officials confirm the child is 15-months-old.

The report states a 44-year-old man is being investigated but officials said no charges have been filed.

Walterboro Department of Social Services was notified and will be investigating along with the police.
