"The simplicity and convenience of e-commerce is rapidly making online shopping the preferred choice of consumers in China," said Jesse Zhang, Fusion-io China Country Manager. "Speed means everything to online customers who expect pages and product information to load as fast as they can click, regardless of whether they access a website through a cell phone, tablet or computer. Business leaders like JD.com evaluate the total cost of opportunity and choose Fusion-io as their trusted solution for scaling with success in China's growing economy."
JD.com boasts over 51 million registered users that make an average of 500,000 purchases daily, providing the company with a significant portion of the nation's online shopping market share. Formerly named 360Buy, JD.com experiences an average of 10 million visitors viewing more than 100 million webpages a day.
In addition to speeding up the website experience to support customer sales, upgrading existing servers with Fusion ioMemory enabled the e-commerce leader to improve efficiency and consolidate its IT infrastructure. Adding ioMemory to servers helped JD.com reduce its hardware footprint, which in turn delivered more return on investment from savings on software licenses, SAN upgrades, maintenance, floor space, power and cooling.
"Migrating our SQL Server databases to ioMemory removed the disk bottleneck, and the whole system is now more stable and nimble," said a JD.com spokesperson. "Before Fusion-io, we knew to expect performance issues when holding a big promotion. With Fusion-io, we recently supported several of the biggest promotions in JD.com history with no issues."
