Port security topic of Charleston conference

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Port security, including threats from terrorists and smuggling, are the topics of a two-day conference at The Citadel.

The Southeast Region Security and Intelligence Conference is scheduled to begin on Friday at the state military college in Charleston. This year's theme is protecting the nation's ports, and topics include such things as best port security practices and responding to a port disaster.

Among the experts expected at the conference is Letitia Long, the director the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

Also speaking is Robert Cardillo from the office of the Director of National Intelligence. His work deals with analyzing and collecting security information and making sure that information is shared among various government agencies.
