Search Continues For Carjacking Suspects

Posted: Updated:
The search for a pair of carjacking suspects continues Monday in south Tulsa.

Tulsa police got word of a possible carjacking near Walmart at 66th and Memorial about 10:30 Sunday night. Officers found a man who said three suspects came up, showed a gun and told him to give them his car. It all happened behind the store, the man said.

He didn't hesitate and gave up the car. All three suspects got in and left. However, the trip didn't last long.

Tulsa Police corporal Darren Bristow said the car broke down near 61st and south Memorial Drive. All three suspects bailed out and headed east toward an apartment complex. Alert officers spotted one of the men walking down 61st Street and stopped to talk with him.

The man admitted what happened, and gave officers the names of his two accomplices. Police arrested him and took him to detective headquarters for further questioning.

Those other two men are still outstanding at this hour, and their descriptions are vague.  Detectives aren't releasing identities at this point.

Bristow said the victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and didn't believe he knew the suspects. Police have reason to think that all three suspects are homeless.

Call Crimestoppers if you have information on the suspects. That number is 918-596-COPS.
