Once, twice, three times a top city

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – Conde Nast Traveler just can't get enough of the Holy City. For the third time in as many years, the magazine has ranked Charleston as the No. 1 city in the United States.

The readers' choice poll tallied 80,000 votes and Charleston came out on top yet again.

Whether it's the cobblestone streets, the historic buildings that line most every street downtown, the Lowcountry food, or the intoxicating smell of pluff mud, Conde Nast's readers are lovestruck.

Charleston also pulled a fifth-place ranking in the top cities in the world, nestled between San Sebastian and Salzburg. Last year, the magazine found Charleston to be the top city in the world, so the city did fall a few spots globally.

Conde Nast also saw the need to rank the city's hotels – from the Mills House at tenth to the Wentworth Mansion at first.

In response to the third title, the city's visitor bureau released a music video by American Idol finalist Elise Testone and featuring a group of locals talking about what is so attractive about Charleston.
